Playathon For Haiti
In keeping with our "Making a Difference" theme for the year, We’re thrilled to take part in a Playathon for Haiti, sponsored by Hasbro (which has graciously donated all the board games for this event!) and the Hands On Network. Our Patch the Pirate Kids Care Club will be hosting a Playathon from 10:00 AM to Noon on Saturday, March 20, and we'll be joined by our Christian school and our youth group.
We'll be gathering sponsors and donations for each fifteen minutes we play (more about that below). Donations are being made out to SOS Children's Villages to purchase shelters and "pop-up" houses to give the children in Haiti a safe, dry place to stay while their country is being rebuilt. The cost of a small shelter is $1,250; a large shelter is $2,500. Even better, when the donations are submitted by March 31, the Hasbro Children's Fund will match, dollar for dollar, every donation collected, up to $500,000!
How does it work? We'll be playing games, switching every fifteen minutes to start a new game. When the bell goes off, each group plays its game until the bell sounds again, fifteen minutes later. After a five-minute cleanup, the groups rotate to a different game, then repeat until our two hours is up.
Interested in donating? Please make out donations to SOS Children's Villages. Need more information? Please email the church office.
Making a Difference - Jude 22
Our theme for 2010 is "Making a Difference," based on Jude 22: "And of some have compassion, making a difference." Join us on Sunday mornings this year to find out what making a difference is all about.
We Are Debt-Free!
It was a little less than five years before Pastor's goal of becoming debt-free became a reality. We praise the Lord for His faithfulness to allow us to realize this goal in such a short time, so we might be better stewards of the money He has entrusted to us.
