Q: When was Faith Baptist Christian School founded?
A: The school was founded in 2009 as an outgrowth of the many homeschooling families in our church.
Q: Is it a fully graded program?
A: Yes. We offer grades kindergarten through twelfth grade, and the curriculum is intensely college preparatory in the high school.
Q: What curriculum does the school use, and is it accredited?
A: To equip our students, we use DVD curriculum and textbooks, featuring traditional mathematics and intensive phonics, from A Beka Academy in Pensacola, Florida. A distance learning outreach of Pensacola Christian Academy, A Beka Academy is accredited. For more information on the program we use, please visit A Beka Academy on the web.
Q: Are the students tested?
A: Yes, students in grades 1-12 are tested annually with the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS). Prospective students are also required to submit recent national testing scores before admission is granted.
Q: If my child wishes to attend college, is the school equipped to prepare him for that opportunity?
A: Yes, the school does provide a college-directed program that satisfies the requirements for institutes of higher learning. It is, however, our desire to see our young people continue their education at a Christian college or university.
Q: What are the requirements for admission?
A: Please see the Admissions page.
Q: What do you do to promote a spiritual atmosphere?
A: We offer weekly chapel services, a Bible-based curriculum, Scripture memorization, and a standard of conduct that both parents and students must agree to uphold upon enrollment. Because we believe that Bible class is the most important class of the day, it is taught the first class period of the day.
Q: What sports do you offer?
A: At this time, we do not offer sports, although physical education is a part of our curriculum.
Q: Do the students have to wear uniforms?
A: Students at FBCS are not required to purchase uniforms. However, the clothes they choose to wear must be in adherence with the school dress code standards.
Q: What facilities are available at FBCS?
A: The ministry has attractive classrooms, a large gymnasium, playground, and kitchen facilities available. Laptop computers with Windows 7 and internet access are available in every classroom. We use the BeSecure internet filter for all computers.
Q: Does the school have a hot lunch program?
A: No, we do not offer a daily hot lunch program. Students have access to refrigerators and microwaves in the lunch area.
Q: Whom should I contact for answers to other questions?
A: Your first source for answers is the church office (931-649-5958). Our secretary can answer routine questions as well as refer you to someone who can handle your specific request.
